Video: Why we all need to stop worrying about climate change.
A few months ago, I wrote a blog post that developed a life of its own. It was my way of making sense of the despair and anxiety I’d experienced as a result of ecological breakdown and climate crisis.
I had come to a place where I understood what was happening for me, and how I could relocate myself in the middle of the mess I found myself in. I think a lot of people felt the same because it went a bit crazy. I had people from all over the world contacting me to thank me for writing it. Lots of people asked to republish it — and even more people didn’t ask but republished it anyway.
To be honest it was humbling, bewildering and even a little bit exposing.
Over the summer, the lovely folk at Happy Startup School asked me to turn it into a talk for their awesome Summercamp, and here it is.
Since writing the original piece my thinking had evolved and continues to do so. I’m curious now about how consumer society has got into our bodies and minds and how we can disentangle ourselves from it. How the world we really want to live in can only be built from inside each of us.
I’m keen to share this more and explore it further — if you’re involved in on a project or in an organisation where this might support your work, get in touch via max@beingwildthings.com
